MG TD TF 1500 - Hardtop attachment
Dear enthusiasts, I know the Hardtop issue was discussed several times in this forum but anyway I need some help. Recently I bought a hardtop for my TD from Gary Krukoski in Minnesota. The HT is in good condition but needs some cleaning and painting. I'm looking now how can it be attached to the car. I have seen pictures from Jim Merz from Missouri, he made special attachment brackets. This looks very professional but needs a lot of work. The fwd attachment is not the problem is fits to the same both pins on the windshield as the convertible top does. The rear attachment is in question for me. On HT there are two fiber glass plates with an hole in it. I believe there should be a bracket on the car where a bolt going thru the plates can be screwed in. Has anybody an similar HP and can provide some information’s or better some Photographs ? An other issue are the rubber parts. As you can see in the pic this "L" shape profile with a nose on it, needs to be repaced. AQny idea of a source were I can get it ? Thank you for help Guenter

Glass installers should have most profiles of rubber? Do the rear side curtain studs match up to those holes?

Hello Guenter, As you may have noticed from earlier threads on this topic, I also have a Hard Top for my mg td. As far as I can see, it is of a different type though. I also have to find a solution on the attachment brackets and would like to keep in touch. You can reach me on erik**safetyfast.nl (@ for **) Erik

Try www.vintagecarparts.co.uk, it looks like they might have the angle rubber you are looking for. Most hardtops mount at the rear over the rear side curtain studs. Try to see if the fiberglass brackets fit over the studs.
