MG TD TF 1500 - AARP Article

For those of us that get it, AARP magazine for May/June did a nice write-up about 59 year young Manley Ford. Manley races a 1952 MGTD in the Pittsburge Vintage Grand Prix. The article says he has participated for 18 years.

Great looking motorcycle fendered TD.

I can tell you from "bumper-to-bumper" experience (and that would be his back bumper to my front bumper... yeah, RIGHT!) that Manley's car is the fastest TD any of us who race with him are ever likely to see. And I do mean EVER! Not only is he fast and clean, but you will absolutely NOT find a nicer vintage racer in any class! To whit: my wife and I suffered an unfortunate rollover accident several years ago while towing home from Summit Point, and the damage to my race car was such that I decided to take some time to fix it. Upon hearing that I would not be racing at Watkins Glen that year, Manley happily said, "Well, I'll be in Germany on business for that race. Why don't you drive up to Detroit, and you can take my race car and trailer to the Glen". Can you imagine that? Not just a starter. Not just a transmission. The entire car, trailer, and all the spares! And he was perfectly serious!

Now I cannot wait to get home to read the article!

Text of the article can be found in my posting on April 4, "100 MPH mg td?"

I figured I had to post it for the "youngsters" who aren't yet old enough to have their own subscription.
