MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 re spray

Hi,

Just curious as to the likely cost of a respray for a 1500 midget, currently Vermillion but would like to go to proper red ie Tartan or Damask perhaps.

Anyone had a respray recently or an idea of approximate cost ?

Thats a "Broad open question" between $15 for 10 rattle spray cans, to $50,000 for a complete off frame concourse resto.

what needs to be done before painting, how good a quality do you want? is this a "complete" paint job, engine out, on a spit, or is it a fast and dirty spray and go?

Hi Darby,

I had my 1500 resprayed, a 'blow over' in the original colour. I had just fitted a fibreglass rear end and a new door skin so there was a little prep work to be done but not much, and I got that for £700 cash price in Bath.

I had a friend that has sprayed cars for many years do mine. He only charged $500. I had to buy all the paint and supplies which was $600. I did all the prep work, strip all old paint off and sand down. Also removed everything I could.
